Giving your child the best start at life
Specialised Therapy for Young Children
Children develop at different paces and it is important to recognise and acknowledge when additional support may be needed. As a parent it is important to be aware of these developmental milestones to ensure your child is on track. If you have any doubts or concerns, there is no harm in seeking professional advice. The earlier you start the better - let’s be proactive, not reactive.
At Tok Tok we specialise in providing tailored therapy for young children from as early as zero to five years old. Our multidisciplinary approach means your child will have access to holistic therapy that encourages growth across all domains of life.
Multidisciplinary Approach
Helping young children on the spectrum
Tok Tok specialise in a broad range of services designed to help young children on the spectrum reach their full potential. Our main aim at this age is to give children in their early years a way to communicate. Our qualified therapists and assistants work together to diagnose the needs and formulate a tailored Growth Plan using a range of skills and disciplines outlined below.
Communication - provide a voice for children who are non-verbal and give them a way to express their basic wants and needs
Speech - ensure your child is pronouncing sounds and words clearly for their age
Language - following instructions, building vocabulary, understanding and using words to request, name and comment
Joint attention - eye contact, pointing, sharing an interest with someone
Play skills - using toys according to their function, reducing repetitive play behaviours
Social skills - engaging with people, turn taking, sharing
Orofacial myology - supporting muscle development and function in the face and mouth
Motor skills - coordination and control of body movements
Self-care skills (e.g. feeding, toileting, dressing, mealtimes, hygiene etc)
Sensory processing differences - understand how your child feels and perceives their environment
Attending skills - being able to focus and respond to instruction
Cognitive abilities - important preacademic skills such as matching, sorting, identifying
Imitation skills - being able to copy actions and words
Emotional regulation - building their emotional literacy and equipping children with tools to cope with dysregulation and overload
Behaviour - understanding the functions of your child behaviour, reducing problem behaviour and giving your child the behaviours to be able to learn
A magic toolbox to help kids grow
Our Approach
Each child is unique and there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution to therapy. That is why at Tok Tok we provide holistic therapy using a multidisciplinary approach. Our dynamic assessments allow our team to determine appropriate goals for your child. Establishing a baseline for therapy ensures we are targeting all the gaps in your child’s skill set. With family and teacher input, we develop individualised programs that enable our kids to achieve their goals.
At Tok Tok, we believe that parents and carers are the best ‘therapists’ for their child. We prioritise parent education and training to ensure consistency and follow-through at home.
Utilising our skilled Therapy Assistants is a cost-effective way for families to access more intervention. Our qualified therapists conduct the assessments and develop the programs for our Assistants to implement with your child.
